Whistling Pass via Redearth & Pharaoh Creek – bike and hike T4 (Long day)
Slow and Steady Hikers
Hi Folks, I’ve done this hike a couple of times and it’s absolutely gorgeous but you do pay for it. The bike section is boring and the hike out via Pharaoh’s Creek is never ending but the sections in between are stunning, especially the lakes.
We’ll hike past several lakes including Shadow, Haiduk, Scarab and Pharaoh lake and all you’ll think about is why didn’t I bring a tent. Bring plenty of food, there are many water sources but you will need a water purification system.
This hike is weather dependent due to the elevation and length of the hike. I will cancel if rain is in the forecast.
Meet up location: HWY 1 and 22 near the gas transfer station at 7 AM
Distance: 48 KM (21 KM by bike), this will take the entire day, be ready for it.
***Members only, No Guests, No Kids*** There is an automatic wait list and group size will be 6-8 should anyone decide to show up.
Strong, well behaved dogs are welcomed but are your responsibility and must stay on the trail, no chasing wildlife or annoying the other hikers.
Pace: This trip will be done at a steady, moderate pace with regular stops and we will take our sweet time for lunch. Bring something good. I reserve the right to tease you if you bring GORP.
Required Gear: appropriate footwear, head light (mandatory), appropriate layers for the temperature (plus additional layers for when we stop), gloves, hat, personal-sized first aid kit, water and plenty of food.
Suggested Gear: Hiking poles & gaiters (highly recommended), snacks, something to sit on, something with a percentage.
