Juan De Fuca Trail Backpack

Aug-15 @ 06:00 - Aug-19 @ 08:00

Slow and Steady Hikers
**Only for those firm and committed as pre-payments will be needed for some of the logistics. Pre-trip meeting prior to all confirmation needed.**

This will be a short and dirty backpack trip. Part hike mostly R&R. Strong backpackers and travelers only. Event is being done through hike style. Expect possible rain and lots and lots of mud for fun. Like lots.
Make sure your footwear has good cleats.

3 days 2 nights. Northbound.
Fly out
Hike – 2 night on the trail
Some R&R in Victoria.
Fly back.

Preference for those who have backpacked with me before. Looking to share accommodation and costs. We’ll be staying in a hostel or maybe a hotel.
FYI my backpack will be super duper ultralight. Challenge to see who’s got the lightest overall weight pack.
A lot of pre-planning logistics will be needed to arrange for flights, accommodation and transportation.
There will be a mandatory trip planning meet to discuss.

Total Distance: 45KM (2 days will be between 17 to 20km each)
Total Cumulative Elevation Gain: 2100~m
2 days of backpacking.
1 nights on the trail.
Travel will be nouthbound.
There will be at least one 20km
day.

This trip is for lightweight backpackers. Overall starting pack weight should not exceed 30lbs total given the distance and elevation for each day. Less is more.

Preference will be given to those who have hiked/backpacked with me before. If you haven’t done anything with me or have not backpacked in Canada before, still time to get out. I’ll be posting a weekend trip or 2. This is to ensure travel compatibility. *Very* limited group size.

**About the Juan De Fuca Trail.**
Juan de Fuca Park on the west coast of southern Vancouver Island offers scenic beauty, spectacular hiking, marine and wildlife viewing, and roaring surf in its course along the Pacific coastline of the Strait of Juan de Fuca. The trail is renowned for its mud, rain and never-ending views. It is also has unpredictable weather, challenging terrain and ever-changing conditions result in many hikers needing to be rescued from this trail each year.
