DESCRIPTION:Slow and Steady Hikers\nPlease be at the trailhead by 0745 am to provide for unloading bikes\, chit chatting\, etc.\nUpon returning to the car park; I shall head off to Canmore at the end of the event for personal work. \nMANDATORY ITEMS: \n1. We shall make best efforts to stay in visual/audio contact. We shall go through Banff and continue towards Highway 1A (Bow Valley Park way across the Highway overpass to get good views of the Bow). DESCRIPTION:Slow and Steady Hikers\n**What we’ll do**\n**This is an invitation to Slow and Steady members to join me on Tuesday evenings for a 5-8 km urban walk exploring the Okotoks Trail system. The riverside trails are beautiful and deer are frequently sighted during our evening walks. The walks start at 6:00 pm. We will wait up to 5 minutes at the meet up location in case of traffic. Please call me at 780-237-5933 if you are lost or have a last minute cancellation. Please do not send a meetup message – I don’t get notifications off wifi.** \n**Attendance can be at the organizer’s discretion.** \n**Please note that we all walk at different paces\, however we strive to stay together and enjoy each others company. DESCRIPTION:Slow and Steady Hikers\nThis is an urban walk is to keep up our fitness for hiking. We will walk the Glenmore Reservoir area\, often up and down hills on the dirt trails (about 200-metre elevation gain). This is not a stroll and we are going at a moderate pace (~4-4.5 km/hr). If you are speed demons and not willing to stay with the group please do not sign up. \n**Location:** We will meet at the parking lot at 24 Street and 90 Avenue SW next to the splash park.\n**Distance:** Approx. 6-9 km.\n**Time:** 1.5-2 hrs\n**Weather note:** Generally\, the hike will go ahead in light rain or snow. We’ll head north on Horse Creek Road to Township Road 280\, ride west to Grand Valley Road\, then continue south before taking one of the eastbound roads back toward Cochrane.\n***After our ride\, we’ll gather for a tailgate picnic at the Cat’s home. Please bring something to share with the group. Players take turns shooting discs across the circular playing surface\, trying to land their discs in the higher-scoring regions of the board\, while also attempting to knock opposing discs off the board.\n* Music – Sometimes someone will play piano\, sometimes guitar\,\n* Come make friends\, hang out\, and if you like\, feel free to bring your special talent and show off a bit 🙂 \nJames’ house Is 65 Tuscany meadows place nw \nThis is a potluck. Please bring a *favourite* snack/dish to share with others – no need to bring chips or sweets\, we haven’t eaten all the bags of chips and sweets people have brought so far\, so please bring something a bit healthy. DESCRIPTION:Slow and Steady Hikers\nNose Hill ParkRun is a free\, weekly 5k community event. WALK\, jog\, run\, volunteer or spectate – it’s up to you! It is entirely organised by volunteers. \nWe will meet and greet at 8:30am – Shaganappi Trail NW and Edgemont Drive\, next to the bathroom at the parking lot. The walking event starts every Saturday at 9:00am. We will go at a leisurely pace. Afterwards\, we will grab a post parkrun beverage/snack at the Friends cafe (104-45 Edenwold Drive NW\, Calgary T3A 3S8). \nIt’s free\, but please register with parkrun before you first come along if you want your time recorded. Cross at the lights to enter the car park. \nOn foot: Nosehill parkrun starts next to the car park on Shaganappi Trail opposite Edgemont Boulevard NW Calgary. \nBy road: From the Alberta Highway 201 (Stoney Trail) turn south onto Shaganappi trail and go straight on through the Country Hills Blvd traffic lights up the hill towards Nose Hill Park. At the next set of traffic lights (junction with Edgemont Blvd) turn left into the car park. \nSee you there!

DESCRIPTION:Slow and Steady Hikers\nThere is no closure per Parks Canada\, at the time of posting.\nMEETING AT TRAIL HEAD 900 am\, Cave and Basin National Historic site parking lot. Departure 915 am from the Parking lot(no parking fees )\nThe Sulphur Mountain via Cosmic Ray Road is a 13.0 kilometer (907 m elevation gain) sparsely trafficked trail located near Banff\, with astounding views of the Bow River Valley. The hike is a steady rise\, but continuously blessed by a cool breeze. Upon reaching the Sanson peak\, we find a plaque commemorating the Sulphur Mountain Cosmic Ray Station National Historic Site (the station was constructed in 1957 to study cosmic rays\, and dismantled in 1981). A weather observatory /station stands in place. One can enjoy the 0.5 km boardwalk along the ridge ending at the Gondola stn. This walk gives\, excellent photo opportunities.\nTrail rating: T3 [http://bit.ly/SnS_TrailRating](http://bit.ly/SnS_TrailRating)\nEvent: Whole day\nPace: SLOW\, MUST REMAIN IN VIEW OF THE ENTIRE GROUP. DESCRIPTION:Slow and Steady Hikers\nIt is time to go back to Moose Mountain for a slow hiking experience!! It is an excellent hike with 360-degree mountain views from the summit. The trail starts with a gentle incline through the forest. Once you get higher up the views really open up! You then follow the ridgeline to the base of the mountain. This final few hundred meters does have a little exposure. SUMMARY:Chester Lake\, Elephant Rocks\, and two lakes RELAXED PACE - OPEN!
DESCRIPTION:Slow and Steady Hikers\nI love this spring hike right after it opens. We will do a relaxed pace hike to Chester Lake along the wide trail\, then the Elephant Rocks\, and two of the three lakes beyond. Hopefully\, there will still be water in the second and third lakes this time of year. We will walk as far as we feel comfortable\, possibly all the way to the last lake. It may be a long day. Bring lots of water and bear spray. We’ll eat lunch at one of the lakes. It is very beautiful and we are likely to see Marmots. \nWe will meet at the Chester Lake parking lot at 10am\, ready to hike. I have had a lot of people arriving late over the past few events\, so we will not be able to wait if you are late. Hike starts by 10:05am. Please plan ahead. This will be a long relaxed day\, please don’t make evening plans. \nIf you choose to make your own carpooling plans once you are accepted on the hike. Recommended $25 gas fee. Drivers need a valid Kananaskis Park Pass and a vehicle that can drive on the Smith Dorrien gravel road. I can take 3 people from the Petro Canada at hwy 22 and 1. \nThere is a wait list for this event. I will take a maximum of 12 people on this hike. \nDistance: Up to 13.7km (if we go to 3rd lake)\nElevation: Up to 649m (if we go to 3rd lake) \nWill likely only go to first one or two lakes past Chester\, but prepared for a long day. \nAll participants must sign at the trailhead agreeing to the Slow and Steady waiver and code of conduct. Please read them in advance. \nWe hike as a group to enjoy the scenery amd get away from Stampede! We hike together\, no one left behind. Bear spray and cameras recommended. DESCRIPTION:Slow and Steady Hikers\n**Vladdy Says**: I have booked days for this backpack trip and can take 1 or 2 people with me. \nNot much to it\, a 4-5 day backpack through the catered wilderness of Banff. \nDay 1: Norquay trailhead to Mystic Junction – 15.9 km\nDay 2: Mystic to Johnston Creek – 21.9 km\nDay 3: Johnston Creek to Wildflower Creek Camp- 15.6 km – this will be a beautiful day\, provided decent weather.\nDay 4: WIldflower Creek to Baker lake – 5.3 km to the lake\, set up camp and either lounge or do the Skoki loop (17 km more\, but without the backpacks)\nDay 5: Baker lake to Skoki trailhead – 13.2 km \n72 – 85 km total. \nFor a multi-day trip you should know the equipment required.
