SUMMARY:Zotha Odabi Baha/Many Marmots Hill at relaxed pace
DESCRIPTION:Slow and Steady Hikers\nLet us enjoy our day with a stamina building slow paced hike on our beloved Cox Hill ! Cox Hill’s proper name is Cocks-comb Hill\, named after its fringe of a summit rock by surveyor A.O. Wheeler who climbed it in 1895 \nThe Stoney/Nakoda have their own name\, which is Zotha Odabi Baha \, that translates as ‘many marmots hill’. \nThe trail offers views of Moose Mountain\, Hunchback Hills\, and the Kananaskis range of mountains. \nParticipation is not first come first served and is at the discretion of the organizer. Attendees will be selected based on their suitability to fit with the group\, however\, please note that I am unable to accommodate everyone. If you have not hiked with me before\, I may contact you for additional information. \nOur end time is a guess at best. It is impossible for me to predict how long a hike will take as it depends on the speed of the group\, the number of stops we make\, etc. If you need to be back at a specific time\, it may be best to sit this one out. \nDistance: Approx 13 kms\nElevation Gain: about 730 meters \nPhysical Difficulty: T3 – Intermediate \nEvent Pace: Slow . The intent is to know each other. It is expected that everyone stays together in a group for safety. Please do not sign up for this hike if you are not interested in hiking with the group. \nGroup Size: Maximum 10. No children. Well trained Karelian bear dogs are welcome. I may have a guest\, who have hiked with me before with all mandatory gear. \nTrip Description:\nhttp://bobspirko.ca/Hiking/Kananaskis/CoxHill/CoxHill.html \nMANDATORY REQUIREMENTS: Big smile\, Hiking boots\, hiking poles\, bear spray backpack with lunch\, snacks and water\, appropriate layers for the temperature & strong winds\, personal first aid kit/medications \nSuggested gear: lightweight pad to sit on\, sunglasses\, sunscreen\, bathroom kit. \nCarpooling: I am from Cochrane\, can take two individuals from Save on Food Cochrane \nA word about mandatory microspikes – recommended brands are Kahtoola Microspikes\, Hillsound Trail Crampons or something similar. If you are unsure\, send a photo to the organizer prior to the hike to see if what you have is acceptable. \nhttps://www.meetup.com/Slow-and-Steady-Hikers/pages/29678414/Slow_and_Steady_-_FAQ/ \nCODE OF CONDUCT: By signing up for this hike\, you agree to abide by the rules and regulations outlined in the Code of Conduct. https://www.meetup.com/Slow-and-Steady-Hikers/pages/19453923/CODE_OF_CONDUCT/ \nWAIVER: You must sign our club waiver before you are allowed to go on this trip. You will need to provide an emergency name and phone number to be recorded on the waiver. The organizer will have a group waiver for you to sign at the meetup location and/or the trailhead. You are required to read the Slow and Steady Hiker Club Waiver prior to arriving: http://www.meetup.com/Slow-and-Steady-Hikers/pages/OUR_NEW_WAIVER/ \nDisclaimer: You are fully aware that your hosts are volunteers and not trained guides and you assume all responsibility for your own safety and well-being.
