SUMMARY:Wilderness Area Backpack Overnight OT3
DESCRIPTION:Slow and Steady Hikers\nBovin lake. Random camping. Sleeping with the larches. No facilities. Best suited if you have random camped before. Bring a backpacking saw. You’ll need a Ursack or do a hang. Sign up only if you are firm. Limited spots. Not for slowpokes. Event is being done through hike style. I’m known not to stop much. I have a uber light pack. Be prepared to snack/drink on the move. There will be about 14km of gravel road driving to the TH. \nDistance: Approx 10 Km one way.\nElevation Gain: 600 meters approx one way.\nEvent Pace: approx 3-4 hr hike in \nYour backpack should not weigh more than 25 lbs/11.5kg all in\, including food and water. The lighter the better. We’ll be de-camping just after a light breakfast on day 2 and heading to to a nearby town for lunch after. If you can’t do all activities please don’t sign up. No cell reception where we are going. \nExpect any kind of weather conditions including cold conditions and possible snow on the ground. There will be no shared equipment. You’re expected to be self sufficient. \nMeal planning for camp: 1 dinner and 1 breakfast. *We’ll be stopping over at a nearby town on the way back for lunch.* \nNote withdrawal cut off time. Will need a minimum of three persons for this to be a go else I might as well solo it. *RSVP only if you are firm*. \nThe event host reserves the right to not allow participants on the event if they are not fit enough or are not a fit for the group. Sorry no dogs. \nAny questions let me know. \nRequired equipment:\n– Bear Spray\n– Backpacking saw\n– Personal First Aid Kit\n– Ursack or do a hang\n– A lightweight backpack and gear. With my ultralight pack setup\, I’ll be having a day hike compared to traditional backpack setups. \nThis is a fun anything goes trip. This will be a relaxing day hiking at over 2000m above sea level. \nWE WILL MEET AT Shouldice arena gravel park and ride lot AT 6.15 AM SHARP. THIS TRIP WILL BE WEATHER DEPENDENT. PLEASE CHECK THE POSTING THE MORNING OF THE EVENT. IT IS A PRIME GRIZZLY TERRITORY\, BEAR SPRAY IS MANDATORY \nThe main trail at Sunshine Meadows is a gentle loop that connects three picture-perfect lakes: Rock Isle\, Larix\, and Grizzly.\nWe will take the gondola up and you will have to pay\nCA$68.00 $+tax Canada resident rate for the ticket. CA$59.50 for a senior. DESCRIPTION:Slow and Steady Hikers\nWhat we will do: \nTo the trail head\, follow the Smith Dorrien Highway / Spray Lakes Rd 10 kms past the Canmore Nordic Centre and turn right at the Goat Creek parking lot next to the Ha Ling trailhead. Along the way we will re-group\, and if you are speedy or unwilling to re-group this event is not for you. We will have several stops for resting and pictures\, also we will stop at Banff visitor centre (bathroom break) then locked bike up and relaxed to have lunch at a restaurant in Banff Avenue then ride back taking Legacy trail to Canmore.\nTotal distance estimate 45km.\n– Must answer my questions registering or you will be put on wait list\nWe will park cars at Canmore and Goat Creek trail parking lot to make this trip work alternatively we can also take the shuttle back from Canmore to Goat Creek parking lot. \n– We are out in the mountain and it is unpredictable time back so\, if you are in rush to be back.
