SUMMARY:Wilderness Area Backpack Overnight T4
DESCRIPTION:Slow and Steady Hikers\nPinto Lake. No facilities. Sign up only if you are firm. Limited spots. Not for slowpokes. Thee will be one wide wet feet creek crossing and maybe a few others. Note\, event is going to be through hike style. I’m known not to stop much. I have a uber light pack. Training trip. Be prepared to snack & drink on the move. You’ll need a bear canister\, ursack or do a hang. Bring a backpacking saw to process firewood. Preferably you should have experience random camping in Canadian Rockies. Campsite has limited spots. \nYour backpack should not weigh more than 25 lbs/11.5kg all in\, including food and water. The lighter the better. My pack is probably going to be *well* under 20lbs. Gone are the days when I used to be a pack mule. \nYou’ll need a National park pass if you are driving. Trailhead is 3 hours north. I’m definitely driving. We’ll be de-camping just after a light breakfast and heading to to a nearby village for snacks after. If you can’t do all activities please don’t sign up. No cell reception where we are going. \nExpect possible cold conditions as we will be camping at elevation. *There will be no shared equipment. You’re expected to be self sufficient.* \nDistance: Approx 14 K one way\nElevation Gain: 820 meters round trip.\nEvent Pace: 4-5 hr hike in approx \nMeal planning: Inbound lunch on trail\, 1 dinner and 1 breakfast. *We’ll be stopping over at a nearby town on the way back for lunch.* \nNote withdrawal cut off time. Will need a minimum of three persons for this to be a go else I might as well solo it. *RSVP only if you are firm*. \nThe event host reserves the right to not allow participants on the event if they are not fit enough or are not a fit for the group. \nAny questions let me know. \nRequired equipment:\n– Bear Spray\n– Water crossing shoes if needed.\n– Bear canister\, ursack or do a hang\n– Backpacking saw\n– a lightweight backpack and gear with total weight not more than 25lbs. Less is more.\n– Individual [Backpacking Equipment](https://www.mec.ca/en/explore/backpacking-checklist) Not going to need everything on this list but its a good place to start. The lighter the better. With my ultralight pack setup\, I’ll be having a day hike compared to traditional backpack setups. \nThis is a fun anything goes trip. If you are uptight about stuff\, this is not be the trip for you. *If you can’t do all activities\, this event is also not for you.* Sorry no dogs. We’ll carpool from town in the south. Gas Fee contribution: $35.00 per person from Calgary. Note there is no cell reception where we are going. \nYour participation in this event means you have read the waiver and by signing up for this event you have accepted the waiver. If you have stated “no” in your profile you will not be accepted to participate. You are fully aware that organizers are not professional guides and you assume all responsibility for your safety and well-being. You are fully prepared with proper gear and you’re physically fit to do this hike with the group. All participants are responsible for assessing the current road conditions\, current weather conditions\, your current physical condition\, current trail conditions and current avalanche conditions for the trip and you are responsible for your safety and well-being. \nWaivers: Waivers for this event will be signed at the carpool meeting location.
