SUMMARY:Ribbon Falls - CANCELLED
DESCRIPTION:Slow and Steady Hikers\nThis hike is still closed\, so I’m moving this to July 22nd. Arethusa is still closed\, so we won’t do a midweek hike this week. My next hike is Arnica Lake on Saturday\, 18th\, for experienced hikers only. \nThis is a nice gradual hike uphill\, through the trees to a beautiful waterfall. We can also check out the backcountry campground and if there is time and interest\, we can hike over to see the bottom on the chain section to hike up to Ribbon Lake. We WILL NOT do the chain section on this hike. \nThis is a long hike\, we will take our time and hike at a relaxed/slow pace to enjoy being out in the mountains and to build up our endurance for the rest of our summer adventures. No beginners. You must have hiked with me before to attend. No running ahead\, lagging behind\, or rushing the group. \nDistance: 18.7 km (longer if we go to the base of the chain section) \nElevation: 683m \nGroup size: 4-12 hikers (you must have hiked with me before). \nI will be bringing my well trained 8 year old German Shepherd on leash. No other dogs\, guests\, or children. \nPlease dress for the elements. Bring 2L water\, a packed lunch and snacks\, medications\, and first aid kit\, good waterproof hiking boots\, hiking poles\, gaiters\, extra socks\, and microspikes. Bear spray is mandatory and must be accessible. No bear bells\, air horns\, or music playing. Bug spray and sun screen recommended. There are bears in the area\, but not causing problems. Please don’t bring fish (tuna) in your lunch. \nYou need a Kananaskis Pass. I can take three people from Petro at Hwy 1 and 22. Once accepted\, you can arrange your own carpooling from Calgary. Recommended gas fee $20. As hike starts at 9am\, and you should be in the Ribbon Creek Day Use Area parking lot to sign in at 8:45am\, I recommend leaving Petro at 8am and Shouldice Park and Ride by 7:45am (arrive a few minutes early to leave at those times). \nThis hike is good for intermediate hikers. We will not go fast\, or slow\, just out to enjoy nature and each other’s company. \nThere is a waitlist. Please answer the questions to be considered for the event. \nRegular S&S waiver and code of conduct apply and will be signed at the trailhead. \nWAIVER:\nAs per the new policy for waivers\, I will bring the group waiver form with me to the Meet-up location and the trailhead. You must sign it before you will be allowed to go on this event. You will also be asked for the name and phone number of an emergency contact. Please come prepared with this information.\nYou are fully aware that organizers are not professional guides and you assume all responsibility for your safety and well-being. You are fully prepared with proper gear and you’re physically fit to do this event with the group\nYour participation in this event means you have read the waiver and by signing up for this have accepted the waiver. If you have stated “no” in your profile you will not be accepted to participate. You are fully aware that organizers are not professional guides and you assume all responsibility for your safety and well-being. You are fully prepared with proper gear and you’re physically fit to do this hike with the group \n[http://www.meetup.com/Slow-and-Steady-Hikers/pages/OUR_NEW_WAIVER/](http://www.meetup.com/Slow-and-Steady-Hikers/pages/OUR_NEW_WAIVER/)
