Paddling on the Bow, from Banff canoe club to Highway 1A overpass and back PLEASE BE AT THE TRAIL HEAD BY 0730 AM

MANDATORY: Bearspray, kayak, paddles, clothes to suit weather conditions Coast Guard approved PFD

1. Sound signaling device
2. Bailing Device or manual bilge pump
3. 15m (50 feet) of buoyant heaving line
4. A waterproof white light *(in low light or low visibility conditions)
5. One re-boarding device

***IMPORTANT***
For your safety and safety of others in the group. PFD’s MUST BE WORN AND BE PROPERLY SECURED AT ALL TIMES WHILE ON THE WATER WHEN PADDLING WITH THE GROUP . Participants that do not abide will be turned away and reported to Andy Dragt
RENTAL GEAR: All requirements apply to you even if you are just renting or borrowing a craft, regardless of its size. The responsibility for possessing required equipment is shared equally by the lessor and lessee. Remember that the equipment must be in good working order, easily accessible and usable by everyone on board.

A waiting list has automatically been created to determine this trip’s suitability for you as a potential participant. **Waiting list is not first come, first serve, but it’s based on the ability to fit into group dynamics and organizer’s discretion and also on past participation in SnS Hikers group events. I**f the organizer requires additional information from you, please provide it, otherwise, you will remain on the waiting list. As a potential participant, you must check this trip posting for additional directions from the organizer, including up to trip cancellation. I am not a licensed guide, hence completely dependent on group members for safety support.

Also remember to clean your kayaks before and after to help stop spread of aquatic invasive species. Sometimes they have an inspection station set up at the lake and check boats before you launch.
ALBERTA Parks & Environment
When highway signage indicates that a watercraft inspection station is open, it is mandatory that all carriers of water-based vessels must report to the onsite inspectors to have their boats, trailers and other water-related equipment checked for invasive species such as the zebra and quagga mussels. It’s the law.
Bypassing an open inspection station while carrying a water-based vessel is in violation of the Fisheries Act and can result in fines to individuals of up to $100,000 or 12 months in prison, in addition to creative sentencing orders that may be issued to convicted persons at the discretion of the courts.
