Hidden Lake Hike – Date and location change

Aug-02 @ 09:30 - 15:00

Slow and Steady Hikers
Rawson Lake is still closed due to grizzlies on the trail, so the hike is changed to Hidden Lake, also around Upper Kananaskis Lake. I have confirmed with Alberta Parks that this trail is open.

Due to the high temperatures (30 degrees) and the risk of heat stroke on the exposed trail on Saturday, I have moved this hike to Sunday, with a high of 18 degrees. Please update your availability.

Details:

T2-T-3
Slower Relaxed pace
Distance: 12 km round trip
Elevation Gain: 200m
Group size: 10

We park at Upper Kananaskis Day Use Area and hike clockwise around the lake, past the Rawson Lake turnoff, to Hidden Lake (Aster Lake Trail). This trail has less elevation gain than Rawson and offers a beautiful view of Upper Kananaskis Lake. Hidden Lake is sometimes full of water and sometimes dry, but Alberta Parks says it’s currently full of water. Suggested gas share: $25. People who have been accepted on the hike can arrange their own carpooling. Otherwise, we all meet at the trailhead.

Please read the full description before signing up. There is a waitlist, please answer the questions to be considered.

The waitlist for this event is NOT first come, first serve, but based on ability to fit into the group to make the hike enjoyable for everyone. PACE for this event will be to keep the group together. We will be stoping occasionally for water, delayering, and at some photo spots. We are not racing up the mountain

There will be NO hiking ahead, and speed demons are not welcome. We are there to enjoy nature and each other’s company.
