Slow and Steady Hikers
This is one of the most beautiful hikes in the Kananaskis. The trail starts with a descent into the valley and a suspension bridge over the Kananaskis River. After this, it winds its way along Galatea Creek, with ten crossings along foot bridges. A few avalanche paths along the way are often filled with wildflowers. After about 6.5 km, the trail reaches Lillian Lake
**Distance**: 13 km return
**Elevation gain**: 492 m
**Trail:** mainly through forest; out and back
**Difficulty:** Trail 3; Intermediate hikers
**Pace**: Relaxed
**Time**: About 4 to 5 hours in total.
**Trailhead:** From Calgary, drive on the TransCanada to the Hwy 40 junction. Turn left (south) and drive on Hwy 40 for about 32 km to the Galatea parking lot.

Suggested gas fee contribution is $15. Please be considerate of your driver’s car and bring a change of shoes and plastic bag for dirty footwear.

**Passes:** You will need a Kananaskis pass for this hike

**Suggested gear**: hiking boots, pack, layers of clothing including wind and rain resistant layers; lunch, water, personal first aid kit; hiking poles if you use them; bear spray.
